Vitamin A for health??

Vitamin A can take one of three forms in the human body: retinol, retinal, and retinoic acid. How do you get vitamin A from your diet? Eat plant and animal foods that contain two different forms of vitamin A.

The two main forms of vitamin A obtained from food are beta-carotene (found in some plant-based foods, particularly those that are orange, red, and yellow in color). and active vitamin A, also called retinol (found 

in some animal products like eggs and offal). How much vitamin A do you need daily?Your vitamin A needs depend on your age, current health, and reproductive status (e.g., whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding). 

SYMPTOMS:

The recommended daily allowance of vitamin A is 900 micrograms per day for adult males and 700 micrograms per day for adult females. Adults need 700-900 micrograms of "retinol activity equivalents" (RAE) per day.

Symptoms of vitamin A poisoning can include dry skin, joint pain, vomiting, headache and confusion. Vitamin A supplements can interact with some birth control pills, blood thinners (like Coumadin), acne medications (like Accutane), cancer medications, and many other drugs.

Since vitamin A can be stored in the liver and in fat, the body may have difficulty getting rid of excess vitamin A that it does not need, leading to its accumulation. A healthier way to get this vitamin is through natural foods that contain vitamin A.
